Accelerate your advanced FPGA solutions!
What is 400G Ethernet?
400 Gigabit Ethernet (400GbE) is an advanced network standard enabling data transmission speeds of up to 400 gigabits per second. Designed to meet the growing demand for bandwidth, 400GbE is mainly used in data centers, telecommunications networks and cloud infrastructures. Thanks to its ability to handle large amounts of data in real time, it is the reference choice for applications requiring high bandwidth and minimal latency.
400G Ethernet operating principles
The 400-gigabit-per-second speed is achieved by using several transmission channels simultaneously, each carrying part of the overall flow. The 400G Ethernet interface uses PAM4 (Pulse Amplitude Modulation at 4 levels) multiplexing and modulation technologies to maximize data transfer efficiency. This format is designed for applications requiring low latency and high bandwidth.
400G Ethernet applications
400G Ethernet is indispensable for applications requiring massive and fast data transfer:
- Data centers: to manage the transfer of large quantities of data with low latency
- Telecommunications networks: to meet growing bandwidth requirements
- Cloud environments: to support intensive traffic and rapid access to resources
- Real-time applications: such as artificial intelligence and big data, where processing speed is essential
