25/28 Gbps FireFly™ FMC+ use case

Using our Sargon Development Kit, equipped with an altera® Stratix® 10 FPGA and the Samtec FireFly™ FMC+ 25/28 Gbps module, we showcase an ultra-high-speed optical connectivity solution built for demanding applications.

🚀 What’s the demo about?
We establish a high-speed loopback between the FPGA and the FireFly™ module via an MPO optical cable, highlighting the exceptional performance and reliability of our solution.

🔎 Technical highlights:
– 16 TX/RX transceiver channels running at 28 Gbps each
– Seamless optical extension with a Bit Error Rate < 5 x 10⁻¹⁵
– Stable and clean signal, validated with the Quartus Transceiver Toolkit
– Eye diagram measurement showing a 250 mV eye height
– Total aggregate throughput: 448 Gbps
